Thank you for your interest in volunteering with the Oakland Public Education Fund! Your contribution of time and skills helps us make a significant impact in our community. Please complete the following registration form to volunteer for a Special Event. 

Clearance Process:
  • Complete this registration form:  Fill out all required sections with accurate information. Sign the In-Person Volunteer Waiver in this form. 
  • Megan's Law Check: Our staff will conduct a mandatory check against the Megan's Law database to ensure the safety of our community members.
  • Confirmation: Receive email confirmation volunteer status.
  • Volunteer: As a Special Events Volunteer you may volunteer up to 8 hours at each school per school year. View current opportunities here. (If you would like to volunteer more than 8 hours at a school, please register as a Community Volunteer here.)
If you have completed this form for a previous volunteer event, you do not need to resubmit to participate in another one. 

*Volunteers must be 18+years old to register.

Waiver & Release Agreement to volunteer In-person

At an Oakland Public School or Locations Requested by the Oakland Public Education Fund

The Oakland Public Education Fund (OPEF) leads the development and investment of community resources into Oakland public schools so that all students can learn, grow, and thrive.

 

Thank you for your interest in volunteering to help Oakland Unified School District (OUSD) offer high-quality in-person education for the 2024-25 and 2025-26 school years. In order to be eligible to volunteer in-person at Oakland public schools and/or other volunteer locations as requested, please read and sign this waiver.

 

Volunteer opportunities at OUSD will be offered at various locations and on dates to be determined.  We expect the timeframe to be between today’s date and June 30, 2026. In addition to this waiver, all Oakland School Volunteers must complete state-required health and safety clearance outlined in the California Ed Code. OPEF staff will help volunteers through the onboarding process, and prospective volunteers may also visit our website to learn more: https://www.oaklandedfund.org/programs/volunteer/.

As a condition to participating in OUSD as a volunteer, you must be willing and able to make the confirmations starting on the following page (except where a confirmation is expressly indicated as optional), by signing your initials in all the spaces below as well as by signing the signature page at the end.


Please note that the term “Releasees” in the confirmations below means (i) Oakland Unified School District and the Oakland Public Education Fund and each of their affiliates, successors and assigns, as well as (ii) their respective directors, officers, employees, trustees, agents, independent contractors, subcontractors, OUSD equipment suppliers, OUSD participating companies, volunteers, and representatives, including the heirs successors, administrators, affiliates and assigns of the foregoing.  













I HAVE CAREFULLY READ THIS WAIVER AND RELEASE AGREEMENT, I HAVE BEEN GIVEN THE CHANCE TO ASK QUESTIONS ABOUT IT AND TO CONSULT WITH MY OWN ATTORNEY, AND I FULLY UNDERSTAND AND AGREE TO ALL OF ITS CONTENTS. I HAVE INITIALED MY OWN INITIALS IN EACH OF THE ABOVE SPACES TO CONFIRM MY UNDERSTANDING OF, AND AGREEMENT WITH THE STATEMENTS SET FORTH ABOVE. I AM AWARE THAT THIS IS A RELEASE OF LIABILITY AND A CONTRACT BETWEEN MYSELF AND OAKLAND UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT, THE OAKLAND PUBLIC EDUCATION FUND, AND EACH OF THE RELEASEES, AND SIGN IT OF MY OWN FREE WILL. I AM NOT RELYING ON ANY ORAL OR WRITTEN STATEMENT, HOWSOEVER MADE BY THE RELEASEES, TO INDUCE ME TO PARTICIPATE IN THE OUSD ON ANY BASIS WHATSOEVER.
